James Town, Virginia was
the first british colony in the Americas, and the first permanent colony in the
whole empire. It was established in 1607 with the name James Fort and then late
changed names from James Fort to James Town in 1619, the natives their were welcoming and
provided provisions and support to the colonists, their relationship soured
fast and in three years the nativs were almost gone. The colonists mortality
rate was high because og disease and starvation, over 80% og the colonies population
dissapeard and between 1609 and 1610 the colonie was almost abandoned, but
started growing again. Jamestown served as the capital of the
colony for 83 years, from 1616 until 1699. Then the capital moved and James
Town stopped being a settlement and is now an archaeological site.
